How do I log into my online classes?
Always use your My4C’s username and password. New students and faculty/staff should contact the Help Desk for assistance with their password.
Are online courses at 4Cs accredited?
Yes. Cape Cod Community College is regionally accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).
If I take online classes at 4Cs will I ever be required to be on campus?
Courses listed as ONL (Online) on the 4Cs schedule are defined as being 100% online and asynchronous. You never have to visit the 4Cs campus to complete your coursework (but many of our online students love coming to campus anyway to study or work in our library or take advantage of our student services). Students may be required to take proctored exams on campus or at an approved off-campus site.
Courses listed as HYB (Hybrid) may require occasional meetings on campus but generally 50%–99% of the coursework can be completed online.
Will I need a proctor for exams in my online course?
Typically exams are administered through the Moodle course management system and do not require a proctor. However, certain exams may require a proctor as determined by the instructor.

How do I know when my course begins?
Online courses are available to registered students on the start date listed on the 4Cs schedule. It is important that you note the start date for each course you are taking and log in on that day.
What computer skills are necessary for taking an online class at 4Cs?
The minimum computer skills include the ability to navigate the internet with a web browser, use email and send attachments, proficiently download and install plug-ins, create files and folders, and use word processing skills. View a listing of necessary computer skills here.
What technology do I need for an online course at 4Cs?
You must have access to a computer with reliable high-speed internet access. If you do not have home access, the College has computer labs available on campus that many students use to complete their coursework.
What if I don't have access to Microsoft programs?
You will! All enrolled students have access to the Microsoft Office Suite through "Office 365" in My4Cs. This includes Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.
What are the basic computer browser specifications for using the Moodle Learning Management System?
For security reasons, the Office of Online and Blended Learning recommends updating browsers for the most recent version for your operating system.
How do I get textbooks for my course?
Textbooks can be purchased online for the 4Cs bookstore or from other online vendors.
How often must I access my online course?
Students must access online courses frequently to keep up with assignments, discussions and assessments. Class requirements vary, but most successful students access their online courses five to seven times each week. Plan to spend 6–15 hours per week on an online class depending on the number of credits.
Are online courses self-paced or regulated by deadlines?
Online courses at 4Cs have specified start and end dates as well as due dates for all assignments and assessments.
Do online students have access to tutors?
All 4Cs students have access to Brainfuse, a 24/7 electronic tutoring service. Live tutors provide assistance with specific assignments in math, english, biology, business and many, amny more. Visit the tutoring center and Moodle website for links to electronic resources and services. Tutors are also available at 4Cs in the Tutoring Center located in the MM Wilkins Hall, room 111.
Are 4Cs' library services available to online students?
All online students have access to the resources of 4Cs' Wilken’s Library. The library provides a wide variety of electronic resources and services. Visit the Wilkens Library for links to electronic resources and services. Reference librarians are available in person, by phone and e-mail.
What do I do if I have a complaint or concern regarding my online course?
Follow the procedures outlined in the Student Handbook for the complaint process that applies to your specific situation.
